Access Monitoring

Access Monitoring is a planned capability for tracking physical entry to your plant sites — gates, doors, and barriers — alongside the remote-access tracking the platform already provides. It is not yet available; this page describes where the feature is heading and what you can rely on today.

Planned Feature

Physical site-access monitoring (gate and door events, on-site presence, remote gate control, access schedules, credential management) is not yet implemented in the Mirox platform. The sections below describe the intended direction, not shipped functionality. Timelines may change.

For tracking remote access to your plant networks — which is fully available today — see Access Audit Logging.

What Is Available Today

Mirox already records and reports on every remote access to a plant's network devices, the form of access that matters most for unattended renewable sites:

  • VPN session tracking — every tunnel session into a plant subnet, with the user, time window, devices touched, and traffic volume.
  • Browser-proxy session tracking — every device web-UI session reached through the Proxy, including the URLs and methods used, enriched with an automatic activity summary.
  • Long-term retention and per-plant audit views — a unified access log, daily access heatmaps, and retention measured in years, built to satisfy German KRITIS rules and the EU NIS2 directive.

All of this lives in Access Audit Logging, gated to the technical operations (tom) job role or higher on the plant (cooperating technicians with the required role included).

Planned: Physical Site Access

The Access Monitoring feature is intended to extend visibility from the network into the physical site. The direction we are exploring:

Entry and Exit Events

  • Entry and exit tracking at gates, doors, and barriers, with timestamps and the access point used.
  • Identity context linking each event to a person where the on-site system can provide it.
  • Vehicle access through gates and barriers.
  • Unexpected-access flagging for entries outside expected windows.

Remote Gate Control

  • Remote gate and barrier operation for authorized users.
  • Time-limited access grants for contractors and service visits.
  • Visual confirmation alongside an access request where on-site cameras are present.

Access Schedules and Credentials

  • Operational access schedules with holiday and special-event handling.
  • Credential management for adding, removing, and time-limiting individual access rights.

On-Site Hardware Dependency

Physical access monitoring will depend on the site being equipped with compatible door and gate hardware connected to the on-site Mirox-Agent. It is therefore a per-site capability rather than a platform-wide setting.
