Reports — Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask when they start working with reports. For how reports work, see Reports; for step-by-step instructions, see Working with Reports.
1. Why is my report a draft?
Every generated report starts as a Draft, so that someone can check it before it is released. Look through its pages in the preview, add your own text in the report editor where needed — a cover note, a comment, a footnote — and then Publish it. Publishing freezes the report exactly as it looks and makes the downloads available to everyone in your organization who may read the plant's reports. See Drafts and publishing.
2. I regenerated a published report. Can people still download it?
Yes. Regenerate returns the report to draft, but the last published version stays downloadable until you publish again. Every download gives that published version, and the status hint says that a newer draft is waiting. The same holds when you change a published report's chapters, and when a regeneration fails.
3. Why is a chapter missing from the report for this plant?
A chapter needs the plant types of the data it reads — a battery chapter needs a battery, a chapter on the performance ratio needs a solar plant. A plant with none of them does not get the chapter: its report leaves it out and names it on the last page of the PDF and Word file ("Not included for this plant: Storage (needs Battery)"). The generate dialog and the report editor tell you the same before you generate. See Plant types.
Two other reasons: the chapter is set to leave itself out when the plant cannot deliver its data for the period (If unavailable), or it is a library chapter that was retired.
4. Why is a template not offered for my plant?
A template is offered on a plant when all of its chapters work on every plant type, or when at least one of its chapters that needs a plant type applies to the plant. A battery template is therefore not offered on a solar plant without storage, even if it also has a weather chapter. A retired template is not offered at all. The generate dialog names what the template needs; Open templates takes you to the Templates tab to build or adapt one.
5. What does "Preliminary" mean?
The report was generated before all of its data was final — before the settled curtailment, the satellite irradiance or the official market value was available, for example. Its figures may still change until the date shown on the badge and on the cover of the PDF and Word file. Regenerate it after that date for the final report. The Data readiness calendar on the Reports tab shows, per template and month, when the data becomes final. See Data readiness.
6. Why is a report marked "Out of date"?
Either the template changed after the report was generated, or an official price or market value was revised since. The report keeps its content until you act: Regenerate it to take a revised price; to use the changed template, generate a new report from it or change the report's chapters in the report editor.
The hint on the marker names the cause — for a template change, the version the report was generated with and the one the template is at now. In the report's Details, What changed in the template opens the template's version history.
7. Why can't I delete this metric, chapter or template?
Because something still depends on it:
- a metric cannot be deleted while templates or chapters use it;
- a library chapter cannot be deleted while templates place it;
- a template cannot be deleted once reports were generated from it.
The delete dialog lists what depends on it, each with a link to open it. Remove the use first — or Retire the chapter or template instead: it stays, but is no longer offered. Shipped templates, chapters and example metrics cannot be deleted by an organization.
8. Why can't I change a metric's id?
Templates and chapters point at a metric by its id. You can change the id as long as nothing uses the metric; once a template or chapter reads it, the id is fixed. The editor shows the lock and where the metric is used. See Metric id.
9. Can I go back to an older version of a template?
Yes. Every saved change to a template — and to a library chapter — is a version, with its date, its author and what changed. Choose Version history in the row's menu on the Templates tab, or History in the editor, and open the version you want. Restore version 3 creates a new version with the old content, so nothing is lost and you can go back again. If data the old version used has been deleted since, Mirox names it first and offers Restore without them; library chapters deleted since come back as chapters of the template's own. Everyone in the organization can read the history; restoring needs the organization role Admin. See Template versions and Restore a version.
10. Which formats can I download?
PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), CSV (one file per table, in a ZIP archive) and JSON. All are made from the same published version, so the figures match across files. Full data export, next to the downloads, delivers every value behind the report at full resolution. See Downloads.
11. In which languages can a report be written?
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. You choose the Report language when you generate a report. Headings, labels, dates and the texts of shipped chapters follow it; text you write yourself stays as you wrote it. See Report languages.
12. Who can generate, publish and change reports?
Generating and publishing a plant's reports is open to the job roles Operator, Technical Manager, Asset Manager and Viewer. Regenerate needs Operator, Technical Manager or Asset Manager, and deleting a report needs Operator. Money chapters additionally need the accounting permission (Operator or Asset Manager). Templates, chapters and metrics are managed by an organization Admin. See the Permission System.
13. Can I change the header and footer of a report?
Yes. The header and the footer each have three places for your own text, with placeholders such as {park}, {period} or {page} that every report fills in, and switches for the logo and the page numbers. Set them on a template for every report generated from it, or give a single report its own in the report editor — click the header or footer on any page. The PDF and the Word file print them the same way. See Header and footer and Edit header and footer.
14. Can I see who published a report or changed a template?
Yes. The report list and the report's Details name who published a report and who generated it last. Everything that happens to a plant's reports — generating, regenerating, publishing, deleting, exporting — is recorded on the plant's Activity tab, and every change to a template, chapter or metric, including changes made with the AI assistant, on the organization's Activity tab, which the organization roles Admin and Moderator can open. See Activity trail.
